🔎 Looking forward to in the field of cutaneous lymphomas and at the 6th WCCL:
Especially excited about new data from PROCLIPI and other large cohort studies in CTCL, which simultaneously highlights the power of national and international collaboration, as well as the deep insight gained into what informs these patients’ outcomes. Also, eager to connect with other CTCL health care allies from around the world – it is a small and very close community and the WCCL brings us all together!
💭 What are you passionate about in medicine or recreationally?
In medicine, I find great fulfillment in thorough, patient-centered communication. Everything we do is for our patients, and just as important as selecting the best treatment for them, is being certain they fully understand their diagnosis, management options, and broader outlook. Outside of medicine, I enjoy Iowa sports, working out, and spending time with my wife, three year-old daughter, and cat named Froggy.
🏆 A short story or academic achievement you are proud of:
An undergraduate student was shadowing me in my clinic recently, and we came out of a patient’s room where we had just had a detailed conversation about a new lymphoma diagnosis, its meaning, and next recommended steps in care. The student turned to me and said: “The other day, I watched this TikTok video explaining the keys to having an effective conversation with someone about a difficult topic, and it was, like, EXACTLY what you just did.” I’m proud to be relatable to our youth in the TikTok era.
